The massive 300-foot object came to light as a popular YouTuber was scanning Google Earth, assuming the sighting might vanish into thin air, should Google update the map of the puzzling icy region.
A bizarre unexplained object has been spotted on Google Earth lingering “out-of-place” right in the middle of Antarctica, and fuelling speculation as to where the purported 300 ft. object originated.
The massive dark object appears to bear no similarity to anything else found nearby, YouTuber MrMBB333 who made the discovery, pointed out in a video, further assuming the object reportedly measuring 277 feet across and about 260 feet high, may have surfaced due to melting glaciers in the vicinity. The authenticity of the video and the images of the object cannot be confirmed by anyone other than MrMBB333.
“Something appears to be in the ice and snow down in Antarctica. Looks like it may have been flying at the time it was taken”, the YouTuber uttered intriguingly in his video, further ruling out a number of suppositions:
“It doesn’t appear to be a shadow and it doesn’t appear to be soil”, he said stressing it “doesn’t look like it belongs there” while being “intelligently designed” and capable of emitting heat signals.
He later pointed at another weird sighting registered nearby, as an unknown object appeared to be “floating” in a shadow cast by a massive wall of ice.
“There’s something weird going on down there. There’s a reason why the world’s Government has made Antarctica off limits and only certain people can go to certain areas for scientific research”, one conspiracy theory believer noted, while a second suggested the object was spotted on the unredacted Google Earth application.
“The rest is off limits. Interesting finds on Google Earth people have found. I wouldn’t be surprised when Google updates Google Earth it will not be there”, the commenter said.
Others suggested that the “snow being disturbed in front of the black object” was a curious sight while another claimed it could be well be a “crash landing” or “secret hangar”.
Conspiracy theories mentioned by users appear to vary, as one, for instance, suggested it is nothing else than “Jeffrey Epstein’s escape plane for after he didn’t kill himself”.
“That’s the same shaped symbol what some of your photos what people have been seeing in the sky”, another remarked, while a third took note of the shape:
“That triangle shape you found is casting a shadow”, he posted in the comments.
“It’s so insane there is a whole continent we know 0 about”, another lamented.

1947 was a momentous year in the history of humanity – yet hardly anyone knows why. 70 years on, we take a look at that year’s life-changing events.
1947
was a year of infamy in terms of the New World Order agenda. 1947 was the time when profound events were taking place: the birth of the horrible US MIC (Military Intelligence Complex), the probable continuation of the Nazi regime and likely ET visitation. As the year 2017 comes to an end, and we close out the 70 year anniversary of the year of 1947, it is worth briefly looking back on that momentous year at some of the events that transpired then which still have a profound effect on our world today.
1947: Operation Highjump
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water … no, I’m not referring to Jaws, but rather the US-UK-Australian military expedition led by Admiral Richard Byrd in January and February of 1947. He thought it would be safe to go down to Antarctica, but he was overpowered and beat a hasty retreat. Byrd led around 4,700 troops in an invasion of Antarctica, but his forces encountered heavy resistance to their Antarctic venture from “flying saucers.” The mission that was meant to be many months long ended abruptly after just 8 weeks! Some have speculated Byrd ran into ETs. However, given all the information we now have about the Nazis, it may be more likely he ran into the Nazis themselves. Was Byrd stalking the Nazis?
This is an excerpt from a report in a local Chilean newspaper El Mercurio on Wednesday, March 5, 1947:
“Admiral Richard E. Byrd warned today that the United States should adopt measures of protection against the possibility of an invasion of the country by hostile planes coming from the polar regions. The admiral explained that he was not trying to scare anyone, but the cruel reality is that in case of a new war, the United States could be attacked by planes flying over one or both poles.”
This is what Byrd is said to have testified before Congress:
“In case of a new war the US would be attacked by fighters that are able to fly from one pole to the other with incredible speed.”

1947: The Roswell Incident
The theme of flying saucers, UFOs and antigravity craft, and whether they were of terrestrial (German) or extraterrestrial origin, was brought up once again in 1947 with the infamous Roswell incident or Roswell crash. On 7th July 1947, at least one (but perhaps 2 or 3) UFOs reportedly crashed in the small town of Roswell, New Mexico, USA. The military put out a bogus cover story of a crashed weather balloon. In 1978, UFO expert Stanton Friedman interviewed Major Jesse Marcel who was involved with the original recovery of the debris. Marcel stated that the military had covered up the recovery of an alien spacecraft, as well as alien lifeforms. Retired military officer Chuck Wade painstakingly compiled compelling evidence of multiple crashed UFOs in the New Mexico area. He believed there was not just 1 UFO in the Roswell crash, but rather multiple craft and multiple crash sites!
Philip Corso Jr. was a person very close to the situation as it was unfolding in 1947 and afterwards. He knew about the reality of advanced extraterrestrial technology. After the Roswell incident, Corso was put in charge of figuring out what to do. He claims that Nazi scientists (via CIA Project Paperclip) worked for him, that Majestic 12 (see below) reported to him (and he reported to then President Eisenhower), and that later President Reagan often consulted him. He also claims that humans cannot go into space, biologically, and that NASA knows this; that he was contacted by at least 2 ET groups through telepathy; that the Cold War was mainly a war of UFOs, with Russia/US aligned against some groups of ETs; that the Roswell UFO coverup is a time travel coverup; and that there would be a time capsule opened in Roswell in 2047.
Of course, there has been much speculation and theorizing about what really happened at Roswell on that fateful day. Some such as Corso believe the most important piece of the puzzle was the military trying to cover up time travel, and even that the pilots and passengers of those craft were not necessarily Grey ETs but future humans. Another theory is described in the account of Matilda O’Donnell MacElroy (e.g. as found in the book Alien Interview by Lawrence Spencer), a female Army officer (nurse) who was purportedly brought in to communicate with the pilots of the crashed craft. She reveals her conversation with an alien, which called itself Airl, who was asexual, looked like a typical gray alien and operated by telepathy. Its body was not exactly biological or mechanical. It seemed its spacecraft and body was connected directly to it through some kind of electrical “nervous system” that it controlled with its thoughts.

1947: Truman Signs the National Security Act
One way or another, Operation Highjump and the Roswell incident must have had a huge psychological impact upon Truman and the US ruling cabal, because later that year, Truman signed legislation that gave birth to what would become a domestic and international Monster: the US MIC (Military Intelligence Complex). The National Security Act took effect September 18th, 1947 and reorganized the US defense and intelligence agencies. The Act and its subsequent amendments restructured the Intelligence Community, reorganized the Department of Defense, established the NSC (National Security Council), established the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) (see below), split the Department of War into the Department of the Army and Department of the Air Force (the American air force used to be part of the army), established the NME (National Military Establishment), established the position of DNI (Director of National Intelligence) who is the director of the entire Intelligence Community and the principal advisor to the President. It was later amended in 1949 to further consolidate and centralize control of the military, by making the Secretaries of the Army, Navy and Air Force subordinate to the Secretary of Defense in the chain of command, and renaming the NME as the Department of Defense.

1947: Formation of the CIA, the Most Devastating and Destructive Intelligence Agency in World History
As stated above, with the signing of the National Security Act, the CIA came into being on September 18th, 1947, arising out of the ashes of its forerunner the OSS (Office of Strategic Services). The OSS, run by “Wild” Bill Donovan, was a wartime intelligence agency during WWII which engaged in espionage, propaganda, subversion and post-war planning.
It is difficult to aptly summarize just how nefarious, morally bankrupt, wicked and murderous the CIA has been since its 1947 inception. It quickly became an out-of-control agency, so much so that by the time Kennedy assumed office at the start of 1961, Eisenhower was already warning him that he better be careful of both the CIA and the entire MIC. JFK was the last person to seriously challenge the agency, and it is no coincidence he ended up dead just a few years later (for details on how the CIA was centrally involved in his murder, see my series on the JFK assassination).
The CIA is the “Company”, responsible for countless assassinations and instances of gun-and-drug running. Ex-CIA agents such as Victor Marchetti who have worked there talk about the CIA as a Cult of Intelligence, such as former CIA chief William Colby, who said:
“They cliqued together, forming a sealed fraternity … they developed a rather skewed view of that world … they looked down on the life of the rest of the citizenry … an inbred, distorted, elitist view of intelligence that held itself to be … beyond the restraints of the Constitution.”
The CIA spies, relentlessly and invasively, on all Americans and beyond. Wikileaks published the Vault 7 CIA documents (the biggest leak in CIA history) which were a shocking and damning collection proving that the CIA hacks all US electronic devices (phones, computers, smart TVs) to listen to conversations anywhere. Vault 7 also proved the CIA hacks vehicles to remotely control them, in order to carry out undetectable assassinations.
The CIA’s primary activities (aside from doing the job it’s supposed to be doing, i.e. gathering foreign intelligence to help defend the US) can be boiled down to these 5 things: 1. arms/drug running, 2. mind control, 3. installation/assassination, 4. subversion/propaganda, and 5. terrorist creating, arming, funding and training. Let’s take a brief look at each of these.
CIA, the Cocaine Import Agency, has been drug running worldwide since 1947.
Arms and Drug Running
Arms and drugs have been a mainstay of the CIA since its 1947 inception. The White House has always condoned the operations since it allowed the CIA to raise funds off the books for its “extracurricular” and “extrajudicial” activities (i.e. assassination, subversion, foreign meddling, etc.). Whether it’s cocaine from South America or heroin from the poppy fields of Afghanistan and the Golden Triangle (Vietnam and other areas of SE Asia), the CIA are master drug runners. Former narcotics investigator Mike Ruppert was forced out of the LAPD in 1977 when he exposed evidence of drug trafficking by the CIA. Many ex-CIA agents have blown the whistle on CIA drug running. For instance, Chip Tatum, who worked in Black Operations, was involved in the drug smuggling trade between the US and Central American countries. He personally flew a plane with cargo which, he later discovered, turned out to be cocaine. Tatum was threatened not to speak out but despite that he exposed the lurid details of the Mena Arkansas cocaine smuggling ring, Bill Clinton’s involvement, and how George H. W. Bush had Barry Seal and Manuel Noriega assassinated. Los Angeles was chosen as the distribution point for flooding the American streets with crack cocaine
The early forerunner of the CIA (the OSS) began to investigate the use of mind-altering substances like mescaline, scopolamine and marijuana. It then famously moved into experimenting with psilocybin (from magic mushrooms) and Lysergic acid Diethylamide (LSD). The CIA was also behind the introduction of LSD to the American public in the 1960s, partly as a giant experiment, partly as an offshoot of its MKUltra/mind control programs (see below), and partly to weaken the population.
CIA arms running or gun running has also been a consistent theme through the agency’s history, including the Iran Contra affair or even Benghazi in 2012, when the CIA was using an American diplomatic compound in Libya to run guns to “moderate” Syrian rebels trying to destabilize the legitimately elected government of Bashar Al Assad.
Mind Control
The CIA pioneered invasive mind control. In the 1940s, it absorbed Nazi war criminals into its structure via Operation Paperclip. It then conducted operations such as Project Bluebird and Project Artichoke. Artichoke became Project MKULTRA on April 13, 1953. The “MK” stood for mind control using the German word (kontrolle) in deference to the Nazis scientists at the CIA who helped develop the program. CIA agent Richard Helms chose Dr. Sidney Gottlieb to run the TSS (Technical Service Staff) to develop what became MKUltra, with truth serum drugs and hypnotic techniques. Some of the techniques involved trauma to make the victim disassociate (split off) into multiple personalities (altars). The CIA killed biological warfare scientist Frank Olson, using drugs and chemicals to produce altered and vulnerable states in subjects – who they could mind control for various purposes.

Installation/Assassination
The CIA has become synonymous with installation of foreign puppet regimes and assassination – and the list is far too long to spell out, but it includes Iran 1953, Guatemala 1954, Vietnam 1954-58, Hungary 1956, Laos 1957-1973, Haiti 1959, Cuba 1961, Ecuador 1963, Brazil 1964, Indonesia 1965, Greece 1967, Bolivia 1968, Uruguay 1969, Cambodia 1970, Chile 1973, Australia 1975, Afghanistan 1979, El Salvador 1980, Nicaragua 1981, Panama 1980 and more up to the modern examples of Libya 2011, Syria 2011 and Ukraine 2014.
Additionally, in the late 1950s, President Eisenhower and VP Nixon created a super-secret team of assassins composed of around 40 crack CIA agents. Operation 40 as it came to be known was behind many of the most famous high-profile assassinations of the last 6 decades, including JFK, MLK, RFK, John Lennon, Che Guervera, Bob Marley and more. This assassination template is still used today, carried out against innocent citizens and peacemakers.
The CIA had a hand in the infamous Operation Gladio, a US-NATO “stay-behind” military force in Europe which was there to allegedly stop the spread of communism. Horrific false flag attacks were carried out by Gladio operatives, who would bomb places such as train stations and make it look like far-left communists were the villains.
William Blum describes the CIA’s murderous activities as an American Holocaust:
“This scenario has been repeated so many times that the CIA actually teaches it in a special school, the notorious “School of the Americas.” (It opened in Panama but later moved to Fort Benning, Georgia.) Critics have nicknamed it the “School of the Dictators” and “School of the Assassins.” Here, the CIA trains Latin American military officers how to conduct coups, including the use of interrogation, torture and murder. The Association for Responsible Dissent estimates that by 1987, 6 million people had died as a result of CIA covert operations. Former State Department official William Blum correctly calls this an “American Holocaust.””
Subversion/Propaganda
The CIA has become a master at subversion and propaganda, both within and outside of the US. It took over the media in the 1960s and 1970s with Operation Mockingbird, a now declassified project whereby the CIA infiltrated the mainstream media and had its pieces inserted into TV, newspapers and journals everywhere as “news” when they were nothing more than lies and propaganda. The late German journalist Ufo Ulfkotte admitted that many European journalists were on the CIA payroll, and have been ever since the CIA rolled out its first European propaganda station, Radio Free Europe in 1949.
Ex-CIA case officer Philip Agee worked in the CIA during the 1950s and finally left in 1968. He knew firsthand the CIA’s subversive activities and terrorism in Central and South America. He became a whistleblower and author of several books exposing the agency. When the US revoked his passport in 1979, he first lived in Grenada in 1980 until Bishop was overthrown by the US, then in Nicaragua until 1990 when the Sandanistas were overthrown by the US, then Germany and Cuba.
The CIA created the CCF (Congress for Cultural Freedom) in 1950 to counter Soviet influence. The CCF was the hidden weapon in the US Cold War arsenal. Whether they liked it or not, whether they knew it or not, there were few scientists, writers and historians in both Europe and America whose names were not in some way linked to this covert enterprise. The US Establishment operated a sophisticated spying program in the name of freedom of expression. All those things (including music and art) that you thought were just spontaneous were actually part of a hidden agenda.
Radical Islamic terrorists or radical CIAslamic terrorists?
Terrorist Creating, Arming, Funding and Training
The CIA has long gotten mercenaries to do its dirty work. Whether they’re called mujahideen, Al Qaeda (“the database”), the FSA (Free Syrian Army) or ISIS, the CIA has created them, armed them, funded them and trained them. The CIA trained Osama Bin Laden in the 80s and the US Government allowed a fundamentalist Islamic network to develop in America prior to 2001. Both Bin Laden and Al Qaeda were the convenient bogeymen after the false flag attack on 9/11. Here is a list of the top 10 connections between the US and ISIS.
Even all of this doesn’t fully outline the extent of the CIA’s crimes, for it has also been involved in various NWO agendas such as geoengineering. Evergreen was/is a CIA front company used to disseminate chemtrails.
1947: Formation of MJ 12
On what some researchers claim was September 24th, 1947 (although there is a lack of clarity over the exact date), another hugely significant event happened. Truman created a secret governmental group that had never before existed, which was deliberately set up to be above and beyond the law. Known as Majestic, Majestic 12 or MJ 12 / MJ-12, it was an ultra secretive group who was entrusted with guarding the knowledge of the reality of the ET presence of Earth. It was so undercover that Congress didn’t even know of its existence, let alone be empowered to subject it to oversight or accountability.
UFO researchers Robert (Bob) Wood and his son Ryan Wood have put together the website MajesticDocuments.com which contains a collection of alleged MJ 12 documents over the decades. They rate each one on their authenticity scale. On one such MJ 12 document, Truman wrote to then Secretary of Defense Forrestal:
“… you are hereby authorized to proceed with all due speed and caution upon your undertaking. Hereafter this matter shall be referred to only as Operation Majestic Twelve … any future considerations relative to the ultimate disposition of this matter should rest solely with the Office of the President following appropriate discussion with yourself, Dr. Bush and the Director of Central Intelligence.”
MJ 12 certainly, at one point, could have been considered to be the most powerful organization in Earth, in the sense that they were tasked with handling the alien affair, an issue of life0changing import that no one else was allowed to know. It is unknown exactly in what form Majestic 12 exists today. According to the testimony of Dan Burisch, MJ 12 are working for the Committee of the Majority, a Freemasonic organization which is coordinating alien contact with earth and furthering the agenda of the New World Order.
1947: A Year of Infamy
1947 truly was an incredible year, with so many incidents happening and groups being created, that it changed the course of the future of humanity. 70 years later, we are still shaped by what went on in that fateful year. We are just on the verge of discovering, collectively, the shocking reality of a breakaway civilization, of a Secret Space Program (see William Tompkins and other whistleblowers for more details), that has been carried on behind our backs with our resources.
The difference is that now the truth has leaked out, and there is a critical mass of people prepared to investigate these occurrences and confront their implications. MJ 12 was set up in an era where the authorities were terrified of sharing the truth in the belief that it would cause social upheaval and chaos. Now, things have changed; if our so-called rulers cannot reveal the truth to us, we will bypass them, find it out anyway and continue on a course of rendering them irrelevant.

Mainstream history has no idea. Did you know top Nazi personnel, technology, money, weapons & ideology were safely escorted out of Germany before May 1945?
The Nazis won the War
in many senses, ways and aspects – but it’s all outside the purview of mainstream historical thinking. You’ll have to dig deep to see the truth of it. The shocking fact is that top Nazi leaders, technology, money, weapons and people (engineers, scientists and technicians) were safely escorted out of Germany before May 1945, the end of World War 2 in Europe. Both before and during the War, the Nazis had established bases outside of Germany, and in 1944, aware that defeat was looming, they found a way to secretly get their money out. When I say that really, the Nazis won the War, I don’t mean Nazi as figurative term or as a general term to describe fascists or authoritarians. I mean the actual original Nazis of the 3rd Reich from 1933 – 1945 in Germany, the leaders of the NSDAP (translated as the National Socialist German Workers Party), as distinct from the rank-and-file Germans who followed them, and of course the rest of the Germans who didn’t. The Nazis always had friends in high places right from the start, as we will see, and these same powers ensured that Nazi personnel, technology and ideology lived on in other places and ways (whether through invitation and infiltration, or discreet and discrete continuation) – as it does until this day.
How the Nazis Won the War: The Bormann Organization, Reich in Exile and Hidden Multinational Corporations
The Nazis may have “officially” lost World War 2, but the top ones escaped – and their influence continues to this day. In addition to infiltrating the ranks of the CIA, NASA and other US Government agencies (by invitation), in-exile Nazis set up a massive economic network comprised of 750 corporations in neutral countries. This wasn’t due to Hitler, but rather Reichsleiter (Empire director) Martin Bormann, an organizational genius and the personal secretary of Hitler. The Bormann Organization controlled Germany’s major corporations and had considerable influence in America.
Bormann, known as the “Brown Eminence”, successfully fled Europe for South America and administered a “Reich in Exile” in the years following the war. Nazi gold was taken to New York law firm Sullivan and Cromwell (where Allen Dulles worked, who went on to become the CIA director and JFK assassination mastermind). The gold was melted down and taken to the Federal Reserve, then invested in these 750 Nazi corporations, which became a base of Nazi economic power in the post-war decades. According to Tony Gosling who covers this topic in this video, one banker quoted by Manning termed the Bormann Organization the “world’s most important accumulation of money power under one control in history”. It controlled Germany’s major corporations, the Federal Republic itself, much of Latin America and wielded considerable influence inside the US. These 750 corporations not only received the liquid wealth of Nazi Germany, but also much in terms of patented and proprietary industrial information.
Herbert Dorsey in his book The Covert Colonization of Our Solar System also has this to say:
“Otto Skorzeny funded the Nazi International. And, at the same time, he was employed by the CIA after the war! He assisted Martin Bormann in recovering Nazi loot deposited in neutral countries for this organization. The original idea came, not from Skorzeny, but from Martin Bormann, Hitler’s private secretary. At a secret meeting in the Hotel Rotes Haus, in Strasbourg on August 10th 1944, Bormann met with key German industrialists. They realized that Germany would lost the war and developed plans for a post war world.
They would immediately start transferring money, machine tools, specialty steel and blueprints for advanced technology abroad to neutral countries, to be used after the war … Skorzeny was Hjalmar Schacht’s nephew by marriage and both men were involved in setting up the Nazi International. The financier of the Third Reich, Hjalmar Schacht, advised the industrialists on how to camouflage their assets on paper. Otto Skorzeny would handle the actual physical transfer [of] this wealth. Both men knew the secrets of the Nazi treasure; where it was located; how it got there; who controlled it; and the purpose it was intended for.
Also, Otto Skorzeny was the most important man in organizing Organization der Entlassene SS Angehorige (ODESSA – Organization for the Release of Former SS Members). ODESSA would become an important part of the Nazi International and assist Nazi war criminals escape justice …”
How the Nazis Won the War: Vatican Ratlines and Swiss Banks
Many researchers such as John Loftus have exposed the very close ties between the Nazis and the Vatican. The Vatican (along with British and US investors) helped build the 3rd Reich after Germany’s defeat in WW1 and gave money directly to Hitler. At some point though Hitler turned on the Vatican and seized all their (sizable) German assets, telling them he would return them in dribs and drabs if they stayed quiet. The Vatican set up ratlines (escape networks) that allowed many notorious Nazi war criminals to escape after WW2.
Meanwhile, if you thought that Switzerland was truly neutral, think again. Much of Switzerland is German-speaking, after all, and culturally, it is very similar to Germany. Switzerland was “neutral” in name only, hiding tons of (stolen) Nazi money in its banks throughout the war. With so much top Nazi personnel and stolen Nazi money escaping the Allies at the end of WW2, this is another way in which the Nazis won the war even though Germany was itself conquered and captured by Allied forces.
How the Nazis Won the War: Sophisticated Weaponry Based on Out-of-this-W0rld Technology
No understanding of Nazism or World War 2 is complete without truly comprehending the extent to which German ingenuity was the driving force behind the world’s technological advances during the 1930s. Germany has long being famous for its engineering excellence. Despite being a smaller nation than France, Russia and the US, Germany led the world. Once the war begun, it soon became apparent that German technology, as applied to weaponry, submarines, aircraft, metallurgy and other industries, was more sophisticated than that of its wartime enemies, which allowed it to gain the upper hand during the years of 1939 – 1941.
In addition to the worldly technology they developed, the Germans also had technology they developed which was otherworldly – literally out-of-this-world. As the story goes, the famous Thule and Vril Societies led by psychic channelers such as Maria Orsic were able to make contact with advanced extraterrestrial beings from the planet Aldebaran (in the Taurus constellation) and actually download information related to antigravity technology. There is much more to the story (including claims by the ETs that they were the original Aryans, offering the Germans/Nazis proof by giving them writing in Sumerian, etc. but it’s beyond the scope of this article). The main gist is that the Nazis took this channeled information and actually constructed functional UFO prototypes which flew! The next 3 points relate to Nazi bases which were established before 1945 (well prior to the end of WW2). The first is the area of Bariloche in southern Argentina. Now, we all know Hitler committed suicide in a Berlin bunker, right? No! In his book Hitler in Argentina: The Documented Truth of Hitler’s Escape from Berlin, author Harry Cooper shows convincing evidence that Hitler and other top Nazis such as Martin Bormann traveled in German submarines all the way to Argentina. Some of the evidence that this astonishing claim is true are these FBI declassified docs.
The article FBI Quietly Declassified Secret Files Attesting Hitler Fled to Argentina in 1945 contains further information:
“Along with the FBI documents detailing an eye witness account of Hitler’s whereabouts in Argentina, more evidence is coming to light to help prove that Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun did not die in that bunker. In 1945, the Naval Attaché in Buenos Aires informed Washington there was a high probability that Hitler and Eva Braun had just arrived in Argentina. This coincides with the sightings of the submarine U-530. Added proof comes in the form of newspaper articles detailing the construction of a Bavarian styled mansion in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. Further proof comes in the form of architect Alejandro Bustillo who wrote about his design and construction of Hitler’s new home which was financed by earlier wealthy German immigrants.
… [an] archeologist from Connecticut State, Nicholas Bellatoni was allowed to perform DNA testing on one of the skull fragments recovered. What he discovered set off a reaction through the intelligence and scholarly communities. Not only did the DNA not match any recorded samples thought to be Hitler’s, they did not match Eva Braun’s familiar DNA either.”

Antarctica is a hot potato topic right now in the alternative research community. Yes, there is more speculation and clickbaity all capital-letter headlines than actual facts, however people have awoken to the fact that something is going on down there – something big. There is considerable evidence the Nazis had a fully functioning base there (they called Antarctica Neu Schwabenland [New Swabia] after a southern German state, and the base Neu Berlin [New Berlin]). We know for sure they undertook expeditions there in 1938. I will again quote from The Covert Colonization of Our Solar System:
“On December 17, 1938 the New Swabia expedition left Hamburg for Antarctica aboard the MS Schwabenland led by Captain Alfred Ritscher, a captain in the Kriegsmarine [Ed. – German marines]. The expedition arrived in Antartica on January 19, 1939 at 4 degrees 30 minutes West and 69 degrees 14 minutes South off the Princess Martha coast … this area was geothermially active and contained hot springs and some ice free land. The area also enclosed the hidden abandoned underground city revealed by the Agarthans [Ed. – who had helped the Nazis in Tibet]. German U_boats were also sent into the region and before long discovered the abandoned city under the ice cap … A number of Germans were left to live there on a full time basis and Neu berlin was regularly supplied by submarine with food from South America and equipment from Germany.”
Many researchers have looked into what Admiral Richard Byrd said about Operation Highjump, the 1947 US military expedition which set out for Antarctica on a mission was meant to be many months long, but which was cut short by UFOs which repelled the US ships and forced them back after just 8 weeks! Some have speculated Byrd ran into ETs. However, given all the information we now have about the Nazis, I would suggest it is more likely he ran into the Nazis themselves. Was Byrd stalking the Nazis?
This is an excerpt from a report in a local Chilean newspaper El Mercurio on Wednesday, March 5, 1947:
“Admiral Richard E. Byrd warned today that the United States should adopt measures of protection against the possibility of an invasion of the country by hostile planes coming from the polar regions. The admiral explained that he was not trying to scare anyone, but the cruel reality is that in case of a new war, the United States could be attacked by planes flying over one or both poles.”

How the Nazis Won the War: Moon Base in 1942
If you thought Nazi bases in Argentina and Antarctica were wild, wait until you hear this. If this theory is correct, the race to the moon in the 1960s could not have been won by either the Americans or the Russians – because the Germans had already been there! That’s right; according to at least 2 sources (researcher Vladimir Terziski and whistleblower Corey Goode), the Nazis had built functional antigravity craft that could take them to the Moon as early as 1942, and managed to build a base there at that time. The following is another quote from The Covert Colonization of Our Solar System:
“… during the last years of WWII, the informed people of Germany knew that they would lose the war, in spite of all the propaganda to the contrary. Much of the strategy then was to relocate as much of the advanced German technology to other locations like Argentina, Antarctica and the Moon. Hans Kammler was in charge of the project and succeeded in moving much of this material before the Allies took over these areas where they were located … the Moon base construction was only made possible by a treaty agree to between the German government and the Draco federation near the end of the war. The Moon is occupied by a number of extraterrestrial groups and is used as a diplomatic meeting ground between these groups …”
In his abovementioned book Reich of the Black Sun, Farrell details the special and powerful role of Kammler in leading a highly secretive Nazi think tank devoted to weaponizing exotic and otherwordly phenomena. After reading the incredible knowledge and developments they achieved, and the bizarre experiments they undertook to do so, one can see how it is not farfetched to entertain the notion that the Nazis made it to the Moon before anyone else.

How the Nazis Won the War: Infiltration of the USA (NASA, CIA, etc.) via Operation Paperclip
It is an interesting fact of history that the US was almost overthrown in a coup in 1933 (known as the Business Plot) led by the very same people who were funding and closely associated with the rise of Nazism in Germany. Decorated Marine veteran Smedley Butler (famous for his book War is a Racket) was recruited for the coup, which he later blew the whistle on, after he had gathered enough information about the conspirators. According to this documentary, among the plotters was Skull ‘n’ Bones member Prescott Bush, father of bonesman, CIA chief and US president George H. W. Bush, and grandfather of bonesman and US president George W. Bush.
Professor Anthony Sutton has written books exposing all the details of how Wall St. funded Nazism. Certain key American businessmen were Nazi sympathizers from the start. So, by the time the war ended and around 1600 Nazis flooded the US MICs (Military Industrial Complex and Military Intelligence Complex) under Operation Paperclip, these Nazi scientists, engineers and technicians were capitalizing on an already pre-existing underlying ideology. Obviously much of American society wasn’t against Nazism, but there were enough key people in key places of power to enlist top Nazis and help them avoid trial and punishment. These Nazis, once safely ensconced within the CIA, NASA and other military agencies, then began to harness the astonishing money and productivity of the USA to help turn it into the world’s first global superpower.
In many ways, the Nazis and the Soviets fought the most brutal and crucial battles of WW2 against each other. The new “American” Nazis may have become US citizens but they had not forgotten their hatred of Russia, and it wasn’t long before they played in a role in turning the allegiance of their new host nation against the Russians in what was to become the Cold War. Yes, the US would probably have viewed the USSR as a rival and potential enemy regardless (since the war mentality always requires an enemy to justify its own existence), however there is no doubt that Nazi thinking and ideology helped turn the US against the USSR.
Conclusion: The Nazis Won the War, Really
So, all in all, despite the fact that the Germany was overrun and captured in 1945, it is fair to say that, from a certain perspective, the Nazis won the war. In his 2009 book The Rise of the Fourth Reich: The Secret Societies That Threaten to Take Over America, the late and legendary Jim Marrs exposed how Nazi ideology infested the US, using corporate front companies all over the world to hide their stolen loot and bringing their miraculous weapons technology that helped the US win the space race. In a famous 2013 Project Camelot interview, Max Spiers (now deceased) and Michael Prince (aka James Casbolt), both supersoldiers and mind control victims, revealed how the New World Order had 2 key factions: the Rothschild-Zionist faction and the Rockefeller-Nazi faction (the latter of which could be called the 4th Reich). The Rockefellers were, of course, longtime Nazi sympathizers and intimately connected to them through the oil, pharmaceutical and chemical industries.
Nazism was far, far more than just a political party. It was an ideology and identity that far outlived Hitler. We now must confront the very real possibility that Nazi ideology is alive and well today in the US, and still remains a key driving force of the New World Order.

May 19, 2017As NY Times journalists fly to Antarctica with scientists to examine cascading ice sheets, it’s worth looking into their level of curiosity because that’s not a normal occurrence. After all, who can possibly be interested in ice sheets a couple of miles thick where it’s cold and icy 9,000 miles away?
Here’s why the high level of interest: Antarctica is equivalent to 200’ of seawater rise, and it appears to be coming apart at the seams in some very vulnerable areas. The NY journalists, after all, are from a city that will be under water in the worse case scenario, and telltale signs of big trouble are already way too evident, certainly evident enough to move NY journalists off their butts to travel 9,000 miles to visit the massive ice sheet.
It’s Global Warming at work!
Upfront, the conclusion to this article: When it comes to Global Warming, the USA has the wrong people in the White House and Congress, which may be the understatement of the decade… rather of the century, assuming we all make it that far, which is looking more and more doubtful.
The NY Times’ article Miles of Ice Collapsing into the Sea d/d May 18, 2017 actually shows the ice flow, which is extremely intriguing: written by Justin Gillis with maps and graphics by Derek Watkins and Jeremy White and photographs by Jonathan Corum and video by Evan Grothjan and Graham Roberts and additional production by Larry Buchanan and Rumsey Taylor. Add an email address at the foot of the NY Times article to receive their in-depth journalism about climate change around the world. It’s a wonderful fulfilling experience.
As stated by the journalists, they traveled to Antarctica to see how the vast ice sheet might affect the world. Without hesitation, the answer to their query is as follows: It will change life horribly forevermore.
Daydreaming… If only America took the lead against CO2 emissions at Kyoto Protocol (1997) and insisted upon conversion to renewables, similar to how Congress authorized 100% solar power on the International Space Station (yr. 2000) for our astronauts (but no such effort for the country at large), as well as taking other remedial steps like whitening commercial rooftops, and consciously cutting back CO2 emissions at utility power sources, etc., the world might not be in such a dangerous pickle today. As it happens, too many US politicians reject the science, deniers of climate change. They are many, too many.
Hopefully, it is not too late at this late date because climate change/global warming is on a virtual rip-snorting stretch turbocharged and bloody dangerous beyond anyone’s imagination! It’s happening so fast that it’s ahead of science by miles and miles.
Here’s living proof as witnessed by NY Times journalists: “The acceleration is making some scientists fear that Antarctica’s ice sheet may have entered the early stages of an unstoppable disintegration,” Ibid.
According to the scientists on the trip, here’s the danger: If greenhouses gases (GHG) like CO2 emitted by burning fossil fuels, like oil and coal, continue at today’s high levels, parts of Antarctica could break up rapidly with a resultant 6’ of sea level rise by the end of this century, which is double the maximum increase projected by the international panel only four years ago.
But wait, there is more: Those forecasts of four years ago are described “as crude” even by the researchers who created them. “We could be decades too fast, or decades too slow,’ said one of them, Robert M. DeConto of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst,” Ibid.
What if they are decades too slow or too fast?
Whichever, the bad case means all hell is going to break lose any time now within decades, or roughly, 2025-to-2075 as a guess. Whoops, that seems to put present day generations smack dab in line of fire, or rather in way too much water overflowing city levees.
“Remote as Antarctica may seem, every person in the world… is contributing to the emissions that put the frozen continent at risk. If those emissions continue unchecked and the world is allowed to heat up enough, scientists have no doubt that large parts of Antarctica will melt into the sea,” Ibid.
“No doubt that large parts of Antarctica will melt into the sea” is the curse of global warming, and it does not take a brain surgeon to figure out that it results in the end of civilization, as we know it.
Based upon not only the Ross Ice Shelf that the journalists visited, but also Pine Island Glacier, which scientists have already determined is irreversibly cascading, it really appears the worst case may be under way now. It’s only too obvious that’s why the NY journalists traveled there in the first place. After all, they didn’t travel 9,000 miles to see stable ice!
Congratulations climate denial politicians in America, like Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK), Senator Sullivan (R-AK), Rep Duncan Hunter (R-CA), Rep Darrell Issa (R-CA), Rep Devin Nunes (R-CA), Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA-48) who claims: “Just so you’ll know, global warming is a total fraud…” Blah, blah, blah, the list goes on and on endlessly, mostly Republicans.
Send them on a field trip to Alaska to inspect this:
Disastrous breaking news out of Alaska: The following is a synopsis (quotation) of a horrifying scientific release d/d May 11, 2017:
“The study, based on aircraft measurements of carbon dioxide and methane and tower measurements from Barrow, Alaska, found that from 2012 through 2014, the state emitted the equivalent of 220 million tons of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere from biological sources (the figure excludes fossil fuel burning and wildfires). That’s an amount comparable to all the emissions from the US commercial sector in a single year.”
“The chief reason for the greater CO2 release was that as Alaska has warmed up, emissions from once frozen tundra in winter are increasing – presumably because the ground is not refreezing as quickly. Now what? Sit in a circle and hold hands, or get to work to find what (if any) options we’ve got?”
That’s Global Warming!
That is horrific news. It now appears that nature is cooperating in a positive feedback loop (which is extremely negative, as it is nature operating hands-free on auto pilot) in harmony with humans, overflowing the atmosphere with heat-trapping greenhouse gases. That’s a perfect script for an end of the world apocalypse film project.
And, it is happening right now!
Not tomorrow or in another decade. It’s happening now, as of today. And, how about Siberia, which is much more vast and riddled with wildly out of control methane (CH4) release, the deadly twin sister to CO2?
“Russian scientists recently discovered 7,000 earthen knobs erupting from the Siberian Arctic, each the size of a small hill. It was as though the permafrost had broken out into giant grass-covered mounds. What’s more, an unknown number of these bubbles could contain methane and explode, forming craters, the Siberian Times reported… It’s definitely related to warming, Romanovsky said. Global warming is up to its dirty work in Siberia, where enough methane is stored in permafrost over millennia to toss the world into a massive self-feeding global warming super cycle that literally scorches world agriculture to a standstill. What then?
Maybe Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) would be willing to take a field trip, since it’s also happening in his state of Alaska, to give a personal assessment to the American people and to the US Senate. Here’s his quote about global warming: “With 7 billion humans on earth, there is likely some impact on nature. The last few years clearly show, though, that there is no concrete scientific consensus on the extent to which humans contribute to climate change.”

Therefore, it is not strange that numerous ‘conspiracy theories, claims, and accounts’ have been proposed throughout the years, trying to explain some of the many enigmatic occurrences on Earth’s most isolated continent.
For years people have claimed that Antarctica is one of the most guarded places on Earth for a good reason.
Many authors have proposed that there are many interesting things hidden beneath Antarctica that are kept away from society.
Talk about ancient civilization inhabiting Antarctica has existed for decades.
What if, in the distant past, when Earth – and Antarctica — was much different than today, an ancient civilization developed there, creating fascinating structures, monuments and temples?
Would we find evidence of their existence today? Many people claim that we already have.
But why has Antarctica become a ‘center’ for conspiracy theories?
Perhaps one of the greatest reasons is because it is so isolated and you can’t just travel there as you wish.
Furthermore, even though we know about Antarctica only for a little over 100 years, there are numerous ancient maps that depict parts of Antarctica free of ice.
One of the most controversial maps was without a doubt composed in 1513, by Turkish Admiral Piri Reis who drew a map that would create a global debate over 500 years after him.
The map depicts Antarctica which was discovered between 1818-1820.
But how is this possible? The history of Antarctica emerges from early Western theories of a vast continent, known as Terra Australis, believed to exist in the far south of the globe.
The term Antarctic, referring to the opposite of the Arctic Circle, was coined by Marinus of Tyre in the 2nd century AD.
In 1820, several expeditions claimed to have been the first to have sighted the ice shelf or the continent.
Interestingly, a Russian expedition was led by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev, a British expedition was captained by Edward Bransfield and an American sealer Nathaniel Palmer participated.
The first landing was probably just over a year later when American Captain John Davis, a sealer, set foot on the ice.
Norwegian Roald Amundsen finally reached the Pole on December 14, 1911, following a dramatic race with the Englishman Robert Falcon Scott.
But the above accounts are all relatively recent.
Here are ancient maps that date back over 500 years which already depict the continent, and some of them show Antarctica free of ice.
In 2012, a satellite image of Antarctica spotted a strange oval-shaped formation in one of the most remote places on the planet.
Thousands of miles from modern society, the strange oval-shaped structure raised numerous questions among experts.
At 400-feet across, experts analyzing the image ask whether or not this ‘structure’ could be the result of Mother Nature. The unusual shape of the structure suggests it may be man-made formation.
The above image is just one of the many odd things that have been found on Antarctica and many authors and whistleblowers claim there’s more to Antarctica than we’ve ever been told.
What is referred to as a ‘truly shocking and astonishing video on extremely strange events in the Antarctic continent’ has recently been uploaded to YouTube, causing a social network debate about Antarctica and what’s really there.

ANTARCTICA – The most sadistic of lands; sub zero temperatures, unforgiving terrain, evil penguins perhaps; Antarctica is largely a mystery to civilians…but Happy Feet aside, have you ever questioned why?
Antarctica, the coldest climate on earth, has always been shrouded in mystery. What we do know is it’s a desolate region and is the world’s fifth largest continent, with 99.5 percent of its body covered in ice. East Antarctica is around the size of Australia and the West is made up of a series of frozen islands stretching towards South America’s southern tip.
Because there is little rainfall, Antarctica is classified as a dessert, but rather than sandstorms, there are blizzards with winds of up to 320 km/hr.
Exploration reportedly occurred from circa 1820 onward.
But what we don’t know is far greater.
For example, at the end of World War II Operation Highjump was initiated. Some will say the US hit the panic button, and conspiracy theorists amongst others, forever question why.
Between Aug. 1946 and Feb. 1947, Operation Highjump was engaged in what some describe as an invasion of Antarctica. One story of the events suggests the US panicking to protect the United States from ‘flying objects.’
Another less exciting version of events is the military investigating and exploring for mineral deposits, namely coal, and to also establish training for personnel; and determining, establishing and maintaining possible US bases.
But whatever the task at hand for decorated Admiral Richard E. Byrd, the notable leader assigned to the operation, it also involved multiple aircraft, 13 Naval ships, an aircraft carrier: the USS Philippine Sea, and close to 5,000 men.
This display of military strength occurred shortly after World War 2 and while economies were struggling to stay afloat. The Cold War was also looming as Russia started to rise as a possible superpower and thus, begged the question of why the US would place so much money and manpower into traveling to the harshest, supposed unpopulated region in the world.
Little information has ever been released about Operation Highjump, but the operation was launched with speed and secrecy. At the time, even then, the media were suspicious about the vast amounts of military power required for the journey.
Admiral Ramsey stated at the time: “the Chief of Naval Operations only will deal with other governmental agencies” and that “no diplomatic negotiations are required. No foreign observers will be accepted.”
Over 70,000 aerial photographs were taken during 220 hours of flight time and it was all shrouded in secrecy. Several men had been reported as losing their lives in plane crashes.
Upon arrival home, Byrd was “summoned to Washington and interrogated by the Security Services” before meeting with Secretary of Defense James Forrestal. Following, “Adm. Byrd declared today that it was imperative for the United States to initiate immediate defense measures against hostile regions,” reported the El Mercurio, a news outlet in Chile, on March 5, 1947.
The declaration Byrd made is what captures all those who love the conspiracy. Flying objects that “fly from Pole to Pole with incredible speeds” were the new threat. But who were the new enemies, given Germany had just suffered a defeating blow in the War? Some say it was the remnants of the German army and bases established in Antarctica. Others aren’t so sure.
But it was the flying objects that dominated this mystery. One theory put forward was Nazi Germany’s ability to have established UFO bases for their secret Nazi weapons. But would this have instigated such a heavy-handed military response under the guise of exploration – when the Germans had already been defeated?
The other conspiratorial factor surrounds the death of Secretary of War James Forrestal – the chap who’d summoned Byrd to Washington. Forrestal had started talking to people of what he’d heard about the Operation Highjump mission, and was also highly critical of the then Truman administration. Soon, he was declared insane and committed to Bethesda Naval Hospital. His family sued the government for his release and won, but only a day before his due freedom, Forrestal fell to his death. Although declared suicide, scratch marks were noted all over the closed window he fell from. The suicide note left wasn’t in his handwriting, and many other questionable factors arose.
Today, Antarctica remains mysterious. Government nondisclosure continues. Around 30 nations now operate research stations bases on the continent. The Antarctic Treaty demands scientific research and collaboration without a military presence, yet the military do present time and again…
Google maps also reveal massive entrances into caves, some purporting them to being UFO bases or maybe old German ones. In 2012, the Antarctica got stranger as a 14-mile “thing” was discovered sticking out of the ice, on Google maps around 400 miles south of the caves.

And Lockheed Martin has a contract for “scientific research” in Antarctica. Something that was revealed accidently only last year, and begs the question again, why?

“From the years 1983-1997, researchers and scientists studying the Antarctic report observing flying cargo, in the form of “silver disks”, circling around the Transantarctic Mountains. The crew of researchers also reported seeing a large hole beside ancient ruins, located only 5 miles from the geographic South Pole. All this took place around the same area, a supposed no-fly zone.
The researchers did not think much of it, but during an emergency medevac situation, the researchers flew over the no-fly zone, and looking down, saw something that they should have never seen. Remotely beneath the surface was a supposed extraterrestrial and human research base. Well after this, the scientists who operated there went missing for two weeks, and when they were found several miles away, the pilots who picked them up said that the researchers looked scared.”

Something enormous, epoch making, is happening in Antarctica.
Although the recent visits by heads of state and other high profile figures to Antarctica remain shrouded in mystery, but there are repeated suggestions that things are changing rapidly there – perhaps the pole shift is happening at a drastic rate – and something buried or hidden may have been discovered.
It is well known in conspiracy circles that the Nazi’s established a secret base in Neuschwabenland, Antarctica during WW2, and it apparently involved the UFO-type aircraft being secretly developed, though no one with any position authority has ever dared to confirm these developments in a major public way.
The U.S. launched a massive military operation after the war in Antarctica, led by Admiral Richard E. Byrd – and they were met with superior military force that ultimately repelled the American expedition. Massive secrets were suggested by the operational secrecy, the buried accounts and the unfinished business at the South Pole. The Russians, too, were involved in territorial disputes and expeditions, before international treaties brought quiet to the South Pole front.
With the recent melt, and cracking of the ice, which is expected to lead to the release of an iceberg the size of Delaware, there is reason to speculate about what we might find in the least explored and least understood land mass on the globe.
How far does that hidden history go?
Does it involve science fiction stories turned fact? Is there advanced technology, or evidence of ancient alien life present and unfrozen from the ice?
Because poles have historically shifted, Antarctica has not always been buried under a permanently-frozen wasteland, but if there was human civilization or alien contact at any point on the quiet continent, it was not during the current period of recorded human history… unless there is more to the underground world there than mankind has heretofore accepted.
Already, heated debate over the meaning of an apparent pyramid uncovered in Antarctica is raising some fascinating queries.
What is downright strange about the whole intrigue and mystery surrounding Antarctica, is that clairvoyant Edgar Cayce seems to have predicted these massive changes in the earth:
“The earth will be broken up in many places. The early portion will see a change in the physical aspect of the west coast of America. There will appear open waters in the northern portions of Greenland.”
“There will be seen new lands of the Caribbean Sea. South America will be shaken from the uppermost portion to the end; and in the Antarctic off Tierra del Fuego will be land, and a strait with rushing waters.”
“When there is first the breaking up of some conditions in the South Sea and those as apparent as the sinking or rising of that which is almost opposite it, or in the Mediterranean, and the Aetna area, then we may know it has begun.”
The planet is changing, and it could destroy life as we know it, or uncover truly unique aspects of the past.
Either way, your global warming and human climate change activity have nothing to do with it – these are planetary, geomagnetic events, impacted by changing conditions in the earth’s core, the intensity of cosmic radiation and solar events, and similar factors that either sustain life on the planet, or upend it.
One thing is clear, we know next to nothing about what is really happening on – and to – this piece of earth we call home.

The mysteries surrounding one of the world’s largest but least explored land masses continue to be revealed.
From recent images showing what appear to be Pyramids similar to those of Giza to evidence of once-luscious rain forests, Antarctica seems to be giving up its secrets. Numerous political and religious leaders, including former Secretary of State John Kerry, have been taking secret trips to the remote continent, but as of yet, no one in any official capacity has explained why.
It would take an expert with a wide body of knowledge in fields including religion, science, politics and history to unravel the web that has been weaved by governments and secretive scientific organizations over the last seven decades to understand what’s really at play.
Recently, Steve Quayle, author of Empire Beneath the Ice, joined Greg Hunter on USA Watchdog to discuss the many facts and theories about what really lies beneath the ice.
What really is going on down there? Here is the billion dollar question, and probably the trillion dollar question: Why are the world’s religious leaders and the world’s most powerful leaders going to Antarctica? Friends, time for a little woo. As web bot creator Clif High noted in his most recent wujo [clif high wujo January 12, 2017], our planet is undergoing major changes, including what Clif High believes is a pole shift.
Clif says that what’s happening in Antarctica is that the ice is sloughing off on one side and growing on the other, “This is how the poles actually shift the glacial mass over time.”
Here’s where it get fun.
According to Clif,
As the ice sloughs off of that part of Antarctica, it’s going to reveal all kinds of stuff that the powers that be would rather remain hidden. And they’re just going to have to deal with it. It just will be too large and too massive for any attempts to hide it. And so the point now is going to be to manage it.
And here’s where it gets really fun. How do you “manage it” when ancient civilizations, massive pyramids or crashed UFO’s are exposed?

A team of international scientists has made a remarkable discovery, unearthing more than a ton of fossils and dinosaur remains in Antarctica. Some of the fossils are believed to be 71 million years old.
The team, consisting of 12 scientists from the US, Australia, and South Africa, made the discovery during a trip to James Ross Island, located near the northeastern extremity of the Antarctic Peninsula.
“[We found] things like plesiosaurs and mosasaurs – a type of marine lizard made famous by the recent film Jurassic World,” Dr. Steve Salisbury from the University of Queensland, who took part in the mission, told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
Salisbury added that the “really great fossils” were “all shallow marine rocks, so the majority of things we found lived in the ocean.”
Fossilized birds were also found, including early ducks from the end of the Cretaceous period.
The location of the expedition was strategic, as it is one of the few parts of Antarctica where rocks are exposed during the summer. Those rocks are known to come from the age of dinosaurs.
‘Working in Antarctica is tough’
Despite the location being a desirable one for the team, getting there was anything but easy. The scientists first had to fly to South America and sail to the Antarctic Peninsula. From there, they used helicopters and inflatable boats to make their way across sea ice and finally reach the shore.
Arriving on shore was particularly remarkable for Salisbury, who had previously made several attempts to get to Antarctica. Those past attempts were thwarted by sea ice, which had made reaching land impossible.
“It was so great to finally get there and have a full blown expedition,” he said. “It’s a very hard place to work, but it’s an even harder place to get to.”
Once they arrived, the scientists camped for almost five weeks on Vega Island, and had to hike 10km (6.2 miles) each day through mountainous terrain and extreme temperatures to reach the main field site at Sandwich Bluff.
“Working in Antarctica is tough,” Salisbury concluded.
The fossils are now in Chile, and will eventually be shipped to the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, USA.
“A lot of the bigger bones will need quite a bit of preparation before we can do much research on them,” Salisbury said. “It may be a year or two before we get the results out.”
