Canada’s top three grocers all posted higher profits this year compared with their average performances over the last five years, new research from Dalhousie University has found.
Critics have accused grocers of so-called greedflation, suggesting they are profiteering at a time when food prices are rising at the fastest rate in more than 40 years, and researchers say a lack of transparency in their financial results isn’t helping.
“These companies are massive and quite diversified from a retail perspective so we recommend dividing food sales from other sales,” said Sylvain Charlebois, co-author of the report by the Agri-Food Analytics Lab and Dalhousie professor.
Loblaw Companies Ltd. was particularly notable, the report found, as it has outperformed not only its five-year average performance but did better than any of those years individually.

American soldiers are now in Ukraine. Allegedly, they are there only to monitor what is happening to the arms deliveries from the US and NATO countries.
As previously reported, not all of the vast amount of heavy weapons sent by the West end up on the battlefield. Instead, some find their way into the weapons market where they are sold to who for who’s profit? The same with the money, much of which ends up in unintended pockets.
The US State Department’s explanation is that the US troops are in Ukraine, not to fight, but to “assist the government of Ukraine with handling US security assistance.” In other words, to identify and stop the theft of resources meant for war against Russia.
But why is this the job of uniformed troops?
Is this a way to sneak US uniformed soldiers into Ukraine and maneuver them into combat?

Only people my age, students at the time, remember how the CIA maneuvered the Kennedy White House into involving the US in the war in Vietnam. President Kennedy caught on and intended to withdraw, but the CIA killed him before he could.
President Johnson, realizing that the South Vietnamese government was losing the war, used the alleged firing on two US destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin to escalate the war. On August 7, 1964, a stupid Congress railroaded by patriotic fervor passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution. This authorized President Johnson to take whatever measures he thought were necessary to promote peace and security in southeast Asia. This mindless resolution gave Johnson the legal basis for the US war in Vietnam, the total opposite of “peace and security.”

Putin, being a liberal in his outlook, is incapable of comprehending the evil that he faces. He still thinks it is just a misunderstanding that can be resolved diplomatically. Consequently, he doesn’t use the force at his disposal to end the conflict, as he thinks that a demonstration of Russian force would prevent a diplomatic solution. By refusing to bring the conflict to an end in a military victory, Putin provides Washington the time it needs to further expand the war and bases surrounding Russia. The limited go-slow war has proven to be a strategic blunder for the Kremlin. If wider war breaks out, the Kremlin’s limited mobilization will leave Russia with insufficient troops to protect the country’s borders, thus forcing the use of nuclear weapons. It seems Russia’s “limited military operation” was undertaken without thought of its consequences.
As Washington seems more determined to prevail over Russia (and China) than to avoid nuclear war, the outlook is dismal.

The deliberately designed fake pandemic began in earnest in the middle of February 2020. A mathematical modeller called Ferguson, working at Imperial College in London, scared the living daylights out of millions by predicting that 600,000 people might die in the UK alone. There was talk of millions being taken ill in Britain and of hospitals all over the world being overwhelmed by sick patients.
The media led the panic, as they usually do, and within days people were cancelling holidays and panic buying loo rolls, soap and loaves of bread. The British always buy loo rolls, soap and loaves of bread at times of crisis. Curiously, the people who were buying the most loo rolls didn’t seem to be buying any food though you would have thought that without any of the latter there wouldn’t have been much need for the former.
The stock market had a nervous breakdown and collapsed in a corner, as it always does at times like this, and the chap called Ferguson was interviewed and quoted everywhere sharing his gloomy predictions.
At this point, back in February 2020, I was puzzled by the fuss being made over what seemed to me to be no more toxic than the flu. Back in February 2020, I said I thought that the hoax might be part of a plan to introduce compulsory vaccination.
When I looked at the figures that were available it was immediately obvious that something wasn’t right. I expressed my doubts on www.vernoncoleman.com and pointed out that according to the WHO it was not unusual for 650,000 people to die of flu in a single season.
I started looking for a hidden agenda and came up with several.
On 28th February I suggested that the virus might be being used to stop unnecessary travel, and to save oil for more important things like Prime Ministerial limousines and fighter jets or for flying Prince Charles to climate change meetings, or to soften us up for compulsory vaccination.
On 2nd March I pointed out that the mortality figures which were being quoted were wrong because the authorities were only identifying people who had the disease and were in hospital. They weren’t counting the thousands of people who had the disease but had only mild symptoms. I pointed out that if 1,000 people go to their doctor with the flu, and one patient dies then the mortality rate is 0.1% but if another 9,000 people have the flu but don’t go to their doctor then the mortality rate is 0.01%.
I predicted that governments would use the crisis to create a cashless society and to get rid of old people.
It all rather reminded me of the exaggerated AIDS scare when the British Medical Association warned us that everyone would be affected by the year 2000.
On 3rd March 2020, I warned once again that compulsory inoculation would be coming. The panic grew and people were seen walking around with plastic boxes on their heads. In the UK the coronavirus was made a notifiable disease.
Within days, doctors everywhere were warning that old people would have to be left to die because the virus was going to kill millions and every hospital bed would be needed for young coronavirus patients. On 7th March I reported that people had been cheering at the prospect of old people dying in huge numbers. `It will clear hospital beds,’ said one commentator.
By 14th March I was still pretty much on my own among doctors in insisting that the coronavirus wasn’t going to kill us all. I was reminded of bird flu and swine flu. I had dismissed the scare stories about those two diseases at the time but the authorities had made dramatic claims. The WHO had claimed that the bird flu would kill up to 150 million people. I said that was rubbish. In the end, the bird flu killed less than 500. The UK Government claimed that swine flu would kill 65,000 in 2009 and spent £500 million on medicines that had to be thrown away. Again, the total number of deaths didn’t reach 500. It wasn’t until a little later that I discovered that those wildly inaccurate predictions had been made by Professor Ferguson of Imperial College, London – a college with financial links to the vaccine-loving Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Ferguson had also made absurdly inaccurate predictions about mad cow disease – he had predicted up to 150,000 people could die but the total was 177. And it was Imperial College which made terrible predictions about foot and mouth disease. Ferguson’s forecasts, later described as severely flawed, led to six million animals being killed unnecessarily and cost the UK £10 billion.
Despite knowing all this, governments in the UK and the USA and, indeed, much of the rest of the world, listened to Ferguson’s predictions, accepted them with enthusiasm and introduced lockdowns and anti-social distancing.
It was clear at the time that governments would have done better to have ignored Ferguson and his team at Imperial College and taken advice from Bob the Builder or Postman Pat instead. The world would have been a better, safer place but possibly a less profitable one for vaccine companies.
Angry at the way people were being terrified by a disease which was clearly no more deadly than the flu, I made a video for YouTube on 18th March. I called it ‘Coronavirus Scare: The Hoax of the Century’. The video was removed from YouTube and then removed much later on from BrandNewTube after that platform had been hacked. It has been rescued and you can now watch it HERE.
I’ve had a lot of abuse over the years, mainly from people hired by drug companies, but this time the abuse was phenomenal, deliberate and cold-blooded and I became the subject of a sneering, libellous, smear campaign.
I carried on making videos because I don’t like being bullied by abusive thugs, because it was clearly too late to stop but mainly because I was still angry about all the lies being told and the people being unnecessarily upset.
On 19th March, the public health bodies in the UK and the Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens decided that the new disease should no longer be classified as a `high consequence infectious disease’. The coronavirus was downgraded to flu level.
A couple of days after this momentous decision (which was ignored by the mainstream press) the UK Government introduced lockdowns and introduced the most oppressive Bill in British Parliamentary history. The Emergency Bill, which was 358 pages long, turned Britain into a totalitarian state and gave the Government and the police unprecedented powers. Public meetings and elections were banned and there were new powers relating to “restrictions on use and disclosure of information.”
Curiously, even inexplicably, much the same thing happened around the world.
Following Ferguson’s guidance, governments introduced lockdowns and anti-social distancing, told the elderly they had to stay indoors, sent thousands of elderly folk out of hospitals and into care homes and cancelled operations and other procedures for millions of cancer patients.
The disease turned out to be unique in that doctors seemed able to make a diagnosis without doing any tests or, in some cases, without even seeing their patients. The list of symptoms associated with the coronavirus grew and grew and the official line was that anyone suffering from a cough or a sneeze had the disease. Thousands of patients were sent to care homes to keep hospitals empty so that nurses could learn how to dance and rehearse their clapping. In the UK, doctors got so good at diagnosing coronavirus that Britain soon headed the world figures for coronavirus deaths. Back in March 2020, I had pointed out that anyone who wasn’t actually riddled with bullet holes was being put down as a covid-19 death and that the death totals were being exaggerated. Little did I know that even the bodies with bullet holes were being listed as covid-19 deaths. Anyone who ever had covid-19 was put down as having died of it even if they were run over by a bus or hacked to death by a mad politician. Officially, it was impossible to recover from the disease.
On 30th March 2020, I predicted that the lockdowns would kill 100,000 to 250,000 people in Britain. I predicted that the result would be that far more people would be killed by the lockdown policies than would die as a result of the virus.
Tragically, the UK Government has now admitted that this prediction has also been proved accurate. And during the next few years, the number of deaths resulting from the closure of hospital departments will soar to unimaginable levels. Suicides, as I predicted, will soar. Exactly the same thing has happened in other countries. This is a global crime.
To that must be added the number who will die through poverty as unemployment levels soar to unprecedented levels. Again, I predicted this back in March 2020.
Meanwhile, the UK Government’s own figures proved that the number of people who died from covid-19 was less than the number who regularly die from flu.

The mortality rates from covid-19 and the flu are pretty well identical. The total number alleged to have died from the coronavirus has been wildly exaggerated. And for the first time in history, governments have forbidden medical and nursing staff to debate or question official policies.
Government figures show that the ordinary flu can affect a billion people a year. And the official evidence shows that the covid-19 virus is less infectious than the flu. The total number of global deaths from the coronavirus is far, far fewer than the 650,000 who can die of the flu in a single season. (It is also far fewer than the 1.5 million who can die of TB in a single year – also an infectious disease.)
In mid-July 2020 we were told that covid-19 appeared to have unprecedented powers.
If you catch a disease, you will usually acquire immunity. But not, it seemed with covid-19. It was announced that immunity to covid-19 mysteriously disappears after a few months.
We were told we would need repeated vaccinations – maybe four times a year.
I reported in July 2020 that the UK Government had agreed to buy 190 million doses of vaccine for a population less than a third of that. I predicted that vaccine company shares would soar.
The rules that were introduced were unutterably stupid, incomprehensible and indefensible. The entire world appeared to be run by people who were at least one sandwich and a bottle of fizzy pop short of a picnic. You could go into a pub but not a bowling alley. You could have your hair permed and your nails varnished but physiotherapy departments were still closed. The idea was to keep people confused, miserable and damned near suicidal and it all worked brilliantly well.
Researchers then claimed that a skin rash was another sign of covid-19. Apparently 8.8% of patients with a positive covid-19 test also have a rash. No one in government realised that the rashes were probably caused by the damned sanitiser fluid that everyone was being forced to use in absurd quantities.
We were, I wrote two and a half years ago, living in a manufactured nightmare.
It was, I said, either the most unlikely badly managed epidemic in the history of the world or it is, as I described it in my video made on 18th March, the hoax of the century. (To watch my video published on 18th March 2020 click HERE).
Either way, we need to arrest everyone involved in the decision-making process.

Even a casual glance at the data shows a strong correlation between vaccine uptake and the excess deaths in those regions, Member of Parliament (“MP”) Andrew Bridgen told MPs during a debate in the UK parliament.

Sir Christopher Chope and Andrew Bridgen were two of a group of MPs who took part in a debate held at the beginning of last week on the safety of Covid “vaccines.” It took place at Westminster Hall after a petition demanding a public inquiry into the use of the injections had reached 100,000 signatures.
A few days earlier, on 20 October, Sir Christopher and Mr. Bridgen were also two of the five MPs who took the time to listen to those who had been injured by vaccines at the first All Party Parliamentary Group (“APPG”) meeting on vaccine damage. Dr. Tess Lawrie attended the meeting.
“Our half of the room was packed: mainly by the vaccine injured and bereaved, and loved ones representing those unable to make the journey to Westminster … while more than 100 people sat on our side, just five politicians bothered to turn up … Five,” wrote Dr. Tess Lawrie.
There are 650 MPs in the UK. So, 645 MPs are showing no concern about vaccine damage and the cost to human life within their constituencies. We need to ask ourselves who, then, are these MPs representing?
During the Parliamentary debate on 24 October, both Sir Christopher and Mr. Bridgen gave a speech. Mr. Bridgen’s speech concluded:
“What is the Government’s analysis of the excess deaths that we are suffering in this country, across Europe, and in the Americas? Even a casual glance at the data shows a strong correlation between vaccine uptake and the excess deaths in those regions. Surely we must have an investigation. Tens of thousands more people than expected are dying. This is really important, and if we do not get it right, no one will believe us, and trust in politicians, in medicine, and in our medical system will be lost.”

The debate continued after his speech and about half an hour later while Dr. Caroline Johnson was responding, Mr. Bridgen asked: “Is the Minister aware that excess deaths run somewhere – there are two different sets of figures – between 18,000 and 25,000 this year alone?”
To which Dr. Johnson, MP for Sleaford and Hykeham and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, replied:
“There is no evidence that those deaths were caused by the covid vaccine. Let me acknowledge and pass on my sympathies to the very small number of people for whom vaccines may not have worked as intended, and who may have suffered an adverse reaction from vaccines. I turn to vaccine safety. All vaccines used in the UK covid-19 vaccine program are safe.”
In an appallingly biased article in The Times, George Grylls, the writer, misquoted Mr. Bridgen and smeared Sir Christopher, falsely linking his campaign for the vaccine-injured to “anti-vaxxers.”

“Disappointed to see @georgegrylls at The Times misquoting my intervention in the vaccine harms debate. The Times reported that I said ‘vaccines had been given to those with natural immunity because they had probably had the virus. I said ‘provably’. The meaning is very different,” tweeted Mr. Bridgen.

As well as dismissing MPs’ evidence as “false claims,” Grylls went on to describe production company Oracle Films as “an anti-vax conspiracy group.”
Mark Sharman, the producer of the latest Oracle Film documentary, ‘Safe an Effective: A Second Opinion’, has sent an email to The Times in response:
It is [ ] with some authority that I can say that your piece entitled ‘Anti-vaxxers applaud Tory MP Christopher Chope as he questions safety of Covid vaccines’ (The Times, October 31st) is one the most biased, ill-informed and shady pieces of journalism I have ever seen.
Sir Christopher Chope is not an ‘anti-vaxxer’, nor is he speaking on behalf of any ‘anti-vax’ organisations. Rather, he is supporting with concern the many thousands of people who have been Covid vaccine-injured in the UK, whose many and various symptoms include amputations caused by blood clots, heart disease and in extreme cases death. This is not misinformation; coroners and physicians have confirmed the cause in many instances.

Who is The Times’ George Grylls?
Grylls is a failed architect who has become a political reporter at The Times. He has written extensively about housing policy. What has housing policy got to do with health?
On his Twitter profile, the young failed architect claims to report on defense and politics. There’s no mention of his extensive experience in writing about housing policy.
This, as shown in the profile image above, is the state of UK “professional journalism.” And it gets worse.
Despite having 6,338 followers he gets next to no interaction with his tweets. According to one of his most popular tweets by far with 41 engagements – most likely because it is pinned at the top of his feed and other Times staff and possibly family members feel obliged to acknowledge it – he is temporarily covering the “defense beat for The Times” as from 27 October.
“Armed forces, veterans, procurement, Ukraine, China, all the rest – my email is in my bio and my DMs are open so drop me a line!” he tweeted. Judging by the lack of interest from his “followers,” he shouldn’t hold his breath.
There’s little else to say about George Grylls. He seems to be no one of any significance and no one really seems to take any notice of him. What is The Times thinking using an inexperienced “political commentator” – who temporarily is covering the “defense beat” but whose main experience is writing about housing policy – to write about health, particularly a piece as important as the effects of experimental medical interventions on the UK population?
Is anyone still in doubt that The Times is acting as a propaganda agent for the Government?

Alberta’s new Premier Danielle Smith has said that she is deeply sorry to all the unvaccinated Canadians who fought discrimination during the pandemic.
She said she was working on a plan to pardon residents who were fined or arrested for breaking ‘covid protocols’ and apologized to all the unvaccinated Canadians who had to face “discrimination.”
Earlier last week, Smith also called on businesses in the province to end their covid vaccine requirements saying that she was working to make it illegal to discriminate against people based on vaccine status.
On Saturday Premier Danielle Smith, “I’m deeply sorry for anyone who was inappropriately subjected to discrimination as a result of their vaccine status….I am deeply sorry for any government employee that was fired from their job because of their vaccine status, and I welcome them back if they want to come back.”
Fox News reports: Smith’s comment marks the first time the leader of a Canadian province has apologized for discriminating against the unvaccinated, according to Rebel News.
Canada had some of the most stringent coronavirus mandates in the world, including making vaccinations mandatory in federally regulated workplaces, shutting down businesses for months, and arresting citizens if they were found violating lockdown protocols.
Smith delivered a speech at the United Conservative Party’s annual general meeting on Saturday and told the media after that she’s considering pardoning people who were arrested or fined for breaking lockdown orders.
“It was a political decision to throw out the Charter of Rights and Freedoms to put those fines in place in the first place, and I think it can be a political decision to make amends and apologize for it and eliminate them,” Smith said.
The newly minted Premier is also currently under attack and being labeled a consipiracy theroist for breaking ties with and refusing to associate with the WEF.
Smith said she was cancelling a “health consulting agreement” involving the WEF and revolving around Alberta’s covid response, because she “won’t work with a group that talks about controlling governments.
“I find it distasteful when billionaires brag about how much control they have over political leaders…. That is offensive … the people who should be directing government are the people who vote for them” she said.

Amid the Ukraine conflict, Western countries are waging an information war not only against Russia but also the entire international community, Vassily Nebenzia, the nation’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, said on Tuesday.
Speaking at a presentation at the UN of the RT documentary ‘Journalists Under Fire,’ the top diplomat noted that Russia had found itself under massive media pressure after it launched its military operation in Ukraine in late February.
Nebenzia noted that Western coverage of the conflict is typified by “a huge number of ‘fakes’ about the activities of the [Russian] military, as well as about the goals, objectives and motives” of its campaign in Ukraine.
“It’s no secret that the West has launched a real information war against us, which affects not only the residents of Russia and Ukraine but also people around the world,” he reiterated.

He went on to compare Western media coverage with actual Ukrainian bombings of civilian infrastructure. “Just as Western weapons are now targeting cities in the Donbass and the liberated territories, Western propaganda is firing ‘information shells’ at its own citizens,” he claimed.
According to Nebenzia, the media onslaught is harmful to ordinary people, who “are losing touch with reality, become distressed and confused” when being overwhelmed with an endless barrage of falsehoods. They also lose the ability to think critically, he claimed.
After Russia launched its military operation against Ukraine, Western countries unleashed an unprecedented crackdown on Russian media abroad, with the European Union banning RT and Sputnik channels. Moscow has repeatedly criticized the move, with Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova claiming that it has shown the world the true worth of so-called Western values.

The European Union slapped harsh sanctions on almost all things Russian after Moscow launched its military operation in Ukraine. Russian media has also been subject to restrictions, with Brussels blocking many media outlets, including Sputnik and RT.
Rumble has announced that it is going to disable access to its service in France after Paris demanded that the video-hosting platform remove Russian news sources.
“As part of our mission to restore a free and open internet, we have committed not to move the goalposts on our content policies,” the company said in a statement. “Users with unpopular views are free to access our platform on the same terms as our millions of other users.”
The company also said it challenges the legality of the French government’s demands, pledging that the decision to turn off France “will not have a material effect on our business, as France represents less than one percent of our users.”
“The French people, however, will lose access to a wide range of Rumble content because of these government demands. We hope that the French government reconsiders its decision so we can restore access soon,” Rumble concluded.
The company’s head, Chris Pavlovlsky, drew parallels between himself and the new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, when commenting on the decision. He underlined that just like the Tesla and SpaceX founder, he will not change his company’s policy “for any foreign government.”
Earlier, in March, Musk said that Starlink had received demands from “some governments (not Ukraine) to block Russian news sources.”
“We will not do so unless at gunpoint. Sorry to be a free speech absolutist,” Musk said at the time.
Russian media outlets, Sputnik and RT among them, have been slapped with EU sanctions imposed after the beginning of Moscow’s military operation in Ukraine. In early March, the EU banned the broadcasting and distribution of Sputnik and RT content as part of the sanctions and suspended the relevant licenses.

An alleged Black Ops / SCI top secret U.S. naval intelligence officer and data expert claims that, based on data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), excess deaths among the “fully vaccinated” are up 17 percent.
Not only that, but rates of cancer in those who took the jabs from Operation Warp Speed are “at a 9-sigma rise,” which the individual who put this all together describes as “a hard-rudder turn for cancer [that] means something is right ahead.”

The situation is slightly worse in Europe than it is in the United States, the data shows – at least as far as excess deaths are concerned. And there has not been so much as a peep about it from the corporate-controlled media.
In the U.S., the excess death rate among the fully jabbed is 0.7% lower than in Europe, which could just be a margin of error – or perhaps the European versions of the injections are more dangerous?
Australia is also suffering through an excess death apocalypse as fully injected residents are now dropping dead, seemingly without cause. In the year 2022 up through June 30, nearly 100,000 Aussies who fully took all the shots are now fully dead.
Insurance industry experts are really starting to notice the trend. One suggested that what we are now witnessing is the largest mass die-off of people who belong to the working class in world history.
The CEO of one insurance group claims a 10-sigma event is now occurring. Keep in mind that the likelihood of a 10-sigma event is something like once every billion years.
The “Ethical Skeptic” account on both Twitter and Substack, which is said to be owned and operated by the aforementioned military asset and data expert, has been keeping a close eye on the CDC’s data-hiding efforts concerning all this.
“CDC is now (post ‘system upgrade’) unilaterally shifting Cancer UCoD deaths to Covid UCoD deaths (even trivial nosocomial cases of Covid),” he tweeted. “Thereby hiding the stark cancer increase from you.”
“Undeniable smoking gun proof,” he added.
Heart-related deaths are also hidden deep within the CDC’s manipulated datasets. The Ethical Skeptic says heart-related RXX Abnormal Clinical & Lab Findings Mortality was separated from IXX ICD-10 heart-related mortality (these are two separate classification methods).
When you combine these two classifications back into one, “you find the hidden heart-related deaths,” he says.
“Despite Covid at a VERY low level, we are at an all time peak in heart related deaths,” he adds, calling it a “20-sigma” event.
“In sum: there is very little COVID in the world now, but there’s plenty of unexplained deaths,” writes Emerald Robinson on her “Emerald Robinson’s The Right Way” Substack page.

Despite having a team of military overseers in the country, the US has only managed to account for around 10% of the weapons systems sent to Ukraine that require special oversight, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday. Earlier, Interpol had warned that foreign weapons can end up in the hands of criminals in Europe.
Anonymous US officials told the newspaper that they can only hope to achieve a “reasonable” level of compliance with US oversight rules, and will have to be satisfied with “greater than zero” assurances from their Ukrainian colleagues.
Some 22,000 US-provided weapons systems – including Stinger and Javelin missiles – need to be tracked once they enter Ukraine, the report stated. However, US inspectors have only managed to perform two in-person checks in recent months, verifying just 10% of this number. Without these verifications, the US is relying on Ukraine to scan arms packages and send a record of their serial numbers to Washington.
For smaller items such as rifles and body armor, a single American official in Poland signs off on all transfers to Ukraine. Larger weapons systems, such as HIMARS rocket artillery platforms and M777 howitzers, are not subject to inspections.
The Post’s report came hours after a Pentagon official told reporters that in-person inspections had recently started again for the first time since Russia’s military operation began in February. Throughout the intervening months, US media reports suggested that Washington had no idea where its weapons shipments were actually ending up.
One intelligence source told CNN in April that these weapons disappear “into a big black hole” once they enter the country, while CBS News in August quoted a Lithuanian arms supplier as saying that “like 30% of [military aid to Ukraine] reaches its final destination.”
The US has provided $18 billion in military aid to Ukraine since February. Russian President Vladimr Putin has warned that this influx of arms prolongs the conflict while making the US a de-facto participant.

Last month, Putin also claimed that “powerful weapons, including portable air defense systems and precision weapons,” are being smuggled out of Ukraine and onto the black market. Up to $1 billion worth of arms are funneled from Ukraine to criminals, terrorists and extremists every month, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated in October.
Russia’s concern over the matter is shared by Interpol. In a briefing in June, agency chief Jurgen Stock cautioned that the sheer volume of arms being pumped into Ukraine “will lead to the proliferation of illicit weapons in the post-conflict phase.”

The number of NATO forces stationed close to Russia’s western borders has reached more than 30,000, the country’s Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu said on Wednesday.
He stated that the US-led military bloc had augmented units in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as in the Balkans and Baltic states.
“The contingent has grown in size by two and a half times to more than 30,000 people since February, and may grow more in the nearest future,” Shoigu said during a joint ministerial session with military officials from Belarus.
He said that such a concentration of Western forces poses a threat not only to Moscow, but to Belarus, Russia’s ally.
The defense of both countries is a “priority task” of the Union State of the Russian Federation and Belarus, he stated.
The West’s ultimate goal in its confrontation with Russia is to “destroy its economy, military potential, and to deprive it of the ability to conduct independent foreign policy,” Shoigu said.
US troops on the ground in Ukraine – media
In response to Russia’s campaign in Ukraine, NATO enhanced military units and weapon stockpiles in the east as a “deterrence” measure. The bloc described Russia as “the most significant and direct threat” to peace and security in its chief strategic document, which was updated in June.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the time that the bloc’s rapid-response force would increase sevenfold to over 300,000. The bloc also agreed to establish four new battalion-size battlegroups in Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria, in addition to those in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
Russia and Belarus announced the creation of a joint military force last month, which was said to include several thousand Russian troops. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko linked the move to tensions with the West. The first trains carrying Russian soldiers arrived in Belarus on October 15.

MOSCOW, November 2. /TASS/. Moscow is in the process of hammering out appropriate measures to retaliate against the US-led West’s freezing of Russian assets, Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on Wednesday.
“As far as a reaction goes, yes, appropriate measures are being considered. I won’t dwell on them now, but I can certainly say that work here is in progress,” Zakharova assured.
The freezing of Russia’s gold and currency reserves by Western states is an “illegitimate measure breaching all norms of international law and business relations” and can be characterized as an “infringement against sovereign property,” the diplomat insisted.
