  1. There’s cryptocurrency and there’s cryptocurrency. At the moment, bitcoin seems to mainly serve speculators seeking to cash in on bitcoin bubbles – it’s not intended to to serve the economic interests of people.

    The only kind of cryptocurrency I support is along the lines of the Fair Coin – created by Catalonian activists who have established a direct democracy governance structure (called Fair Coop) that enables direct popular regulation of the value of fair coins to prevent greedy investors from driving up their value through speculation: https://stuartjeannebramhall.com/2017/06/01/catalonia-economic-reform-from-the-ground-up/

    Based on my observations of Putin, I would say he isn’t a big fan of direct democracy. Thus I seriously doubt this is the type of cryptocurrency he has in mind. What I don’t understand is why he doesn’t simply create his own government controlled currency (as China has done) and quit borrowing from Wall Street banks altogether.
